The crystalline structure of this sparkling wine brings delicacy to the richer flavours, which unfurl very gradually on the palate.
Citrussy notes lead you into an intricate maze of pastry, warm spice and minerality.
We released this wine at 10 years old to celebrate a decade of the Digby wines being out in the world.
Since our flagship wine centres on Chardonnay grown on greensand, this pure expression of the grape is a distillation of Digby’s raison d’être. It exemplifies the benefit of patience in allowing the razor-like sharpness of English wines to evolve into warmth, depth and satisfaction.
The 2013 Blanc de Blancs Brut won a gold medal at the WineGB Awards 2024.
Featuring the top 5% of Digby’s 2013 harvest, these Chardonnay grapes come from two vineyards in Hampshire and Dorset, representing Digby’s longest-serving vineyard portfolio partners.
Three old oak barrels were used in the making of this wine, amounting to 27% of the overall blend, enhancing the texture and flavours to balance our trademark raciness.
After a warm summer and cool autumn, the 2013 harvest was delayed by rain which, happily, meant even deeper concentration in the grapes without over-ripeness. The result for Digby was dazzling acidity matched by intensity of flavour.

Grapes harvested from four parcels of land split across two vineyards, in Hampshire and Dorset, provide contrasting fruit grown on greensand and clay soils respectively.
Head Blender Trevor loves the blend of vibrant, mineral Chardonnay from greensand with an umami finish, teamed with the courageous warmth of Chardonnay grown on the more water-retaining clay.
By utilising a fraction more oak than Digby’s other wines during alcoholic fermentation, the 2013 Blanc de Blancs brings a sense of calm and finesse to the trademark raciness of our fabulous English wines.
